Spring 2023 Concert Series: Of Steel, Fire, and Sky

Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20 at First Presbyterian Church, Allentown

Our Spring 2023 Concert Series, Of Steel, Fire, and Sky, featured several popular artists including Dolly Parton and James Taylor, and the music reminiscent of trains and ships by composers including Rollo Dillworth. The chorus sung like the earth with Elizabeth Alexander’s “How to Sing Like a Planet” and told an epic tale with a video game piece by Christopher Tin. This concert also featured works by Stephen Schwartz, Colin Britt, Gregory Orbán, and include Dr. Rospehayne Powell’s classic “Still I Rise.” The concert closed with one of Aaron Copland’s most cherished pieces from his opera The Tenderland entitled “The Promise of Living,” arranged for chorus and four-hand piano.
